Skiing on Mt Taranaki

One cold Taranaki morning we drove up to the ski field . It was going to be my very first time on skis. I was scared,I didn’t know If i was going to stand up or crash.

When I got out of the car at the ski field it was cold and windy  and there was snow on the ground. We started walking.

35 minutes later

We were at the Hut/Lodge. I put all of my ski gear on like my

puffa jacket and rain coat. I also put the ski boots on that we rented. Then I was ready to go!

I walked outside, and walked up to the top of the beginners run. I put the rented skis onto my feet. I started going down the hill , I got out of control and Crashed! I started crying so HARD! I yelled out I HATE SKIING!

After that I let my sister have a go on the skis. My sister did not scream and cry. But I do not think she liked it very much. When my sister said she was finished, we went inside.

I was very hungry and thirsty. I put my hand round dads warm coffee to warm my hands. Then I had some of the lollies we bought.

After that we walked down to the car when we were coming

down there was lots of people coming up.

Now I love skiing now because I had another go in Queenstown.  Well, I didn’t crash, (well, I did crash, but I knew about crashing and it didn’t worry me.) it was easier and there was more snow.  IT WAS STILL COLD!

RIVER SAFETY

-IF IN DOUBT STAY OUT!

Which means if someone makes you jump and you don’t feel comfortable jumping into the lake STAY OUT.

-PLAN YOUR TRIP!

Always tell someone where you're going and if you change your plan tell them so if you get hurt they know where you are.

Which means take some that can SUPERVISE you.

Which means do not do something that you can’t do.

Which means look at the weather because I could be raining and the river could be high.

Before Camp Thoughts

I am excited and nervous about camp because I have never been on camp before.

I’m a little scared of river safety because I’m not a good swimmer and don’t like water that much.

I want to go on the climbing wall and low ropes because I am a good climber.

I’m  nervous about whose tent I’m going to be in because I want to be in my friends tent because I know them.

I hope there will be very fun activites to do at camp otherwise it will be boring.
